INFORMATION ON COOKIES

Cookies are small text files that websites visited by the user send and store on the user’s computer or mobile device, and which are then sent back to the same websites the next time the user visits. It is thanks to cookies that the site remembers the user’s actions and settings (such as, for example, login data, language, font size, other display settings, etc.) so that they do not have to be indicated again when the user returns to the same site or navigates from one page to another. Some operations could not be carried out without the use of cookies, which in certain cases are therefore technically necessary for the operation of the site itself.

There are different types of cookies depending on their characteristics, functions and persistence on the user’s computer or mobile device.

According to current legislation, the use of cookies does not always require the express consent of the user. In particular, no such consent is required for so-called “technical” cookies, i.e. those used for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communication network, or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. In other words, these are cookies that are indispensable for the functioning of the site or necessary to carry out activities requested by the user.

Among technical cookies, which do not require express consent for their use, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (see Prov. Gen. Identification of simplified modalities for information and acquisition of consent for the use of cookies – 8 May 2014) also includes:

  • analytics cookies” used to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself, may be used as technical cookies, if they anonymise the data, or as profiling cookies, in which case they require the user’s consent.
  • browsing or session cookies (for logging in, making a purchase, etc.),
  • functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a number of selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to the user.

Cookies have also been categorised according to the entity that acts as the controller of the personal data collected by the cookie, distinguishing between first-party and third-party cookies.

  • First-party cookies: these are cookies managed by the site owner. For these cookies, the obligation to provide information lies with the site owner. It is also the site owner’s obligation to indicate how the cookie can be blocked.
  • Third-party cookies: these are cookies managed by a third party other than the site owner. In the case of these cookies, the third party is responsible for providing information and instructions on how to block the cookie, while the site owner is obliged to include on the site the link to the third party’s site where these elements are available.

Recipients of personal data

The data acquired through cookies may be managed:

  • by employees and collaborators of the undersigned company as designated and authorised subjects for processing;
  • by persons entrusted with the task of carrying out technical operations on our site.
